Morning Studies for All Ages

Children's Sunday School
Children’s Sunday School provides a great
opportunity for children to grow in their faith. Classes are set up
for each age (& grade level) and are designed to meet the needs of
each specific group. Dedicated teachers lead Bible based activities
that can include: drama, crafts, storytelling, music, and games. The
Fall Term of Sunday School began on August 10th and will end on
December 14th. All classes (3’s – 5th Grade) meet in the Education
Building.

Youth Sunday School
Each Sunday morning, the youth gather in the Holy Rock Café area, upstairs of the Family Life Center, for an opening gathering which includes donuts, fellowship, announcements and prayer. Afterwards, the youth go to their individual classrooms.
Middle School Sunday School
Youth in grades 6th – 8th meet in individual grade level classes. The curriculum incorporates an online Sunday school website, which students can use to answer questions for the following week, contact their teacher, converse with other classmates, request prayer, etc.
High School Sunday School Options
Youth in grades 9th – 12th --- New 8 week classes begin January 11, 2009
High School Youth should sign up at church in the Youth Ministry office.
The Gripping Point - A DVD study series about mountain climber, Craig DeMartino, who fell 96 feet, shattered his feet and ankles and had other multiple injuries. In this study, Craig and his family consider lessons learned about coping with pain…relying on God…and finding answers to impossible questions.
Searching for the Truth – What’s the difference between Christianity and Islam? Is Scientology a religion? What do Mormons believe? This study will use information from videos, newspaper current events and the internet to compare Christianity to other World Religions.

Adult Sunday School
Adult Confirmation & New Member Class: Becoming Disciples
January 11 – February 22
New members, all members, and frequent visitors are invited to join this class. No pre-requisites are required. Come join us to
learn, ask questions, have fun, and get to know people in the community of faith of Simpsonwood UMC. Led by Rev. Dr. Susan Martin Taylor Choir Room of the Sanctuary bldg.

The Book of Acts
(Cappuccino & Christ Class)
Come ready to learn about the explosive spread of the gospel and the
rapid growth of the church after Christ’s ascension. Amongst
persecution and opposition, the early believers relied on God’s spirit
for direction and wisdom. As He does today, God showed His
infinite power, regardless of the circumstances. Come join us for
a cup of cappuccino brewed by Keith Willing before class. This
class will be led by Keith Willing and Lori Tucker. Class meets in Room
111 of the Family Life Center.
“Some Folks Feel the Rain, Others Just Get
Wet”
by James W. Moore
In his warm, conversational style, author James Moore explores the
reasons why some people are able to see our time on earth as a gracious
gift from God rather than as an agonizing endurance test. Led by
Van Fletcher and Heather Collins. Meets in Room 110 of the Family Life
Center.
“How Would Jesus Raise Your Child?”
by Dr. Teresa Whitehurst
“How Would Jesus Raise Your Child?” consists of two parts: "Our Inner
Growth Comes First" and "A New Paradigm of Guiding Your Child". Dr.
Whitehurst bases her instructions on the need for parents to express the
same love, compassion, gentleness and teaching style that Jesus embodied
during his three years of ministry. Led by class leaders Julie
Mabe and Jeff Brinkman. Meets in Room S107, downstairs of the Sanctuary
building.
“Hard to Believe: The High Cost & Infinite Value of
Following Jesus”
by John McArthur
(New Beginnings Young Adults class).
Dr. John MacArthur serves up the unvarnished truth of what Christ taught
and lived. In simple, compelling terms, he spells out what is required
of those who would follow Him. This class is led by Ben Lawder. Meets in
the Upper Room, upstairs in the Sanctuary Building.
“The Shack ”
(Young Adults)
In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant The
Shack wrestles with the timeless question “Where is God in a world
so filled with unspeakable pain?” This study Led by Scott Brubaker.
Meets in the Library, Room E202 of the Education Building.
“Deeper Connections:The Miracles of Jesus”
(Seeker Class)
This DVD series takes an in-depth look at the miracles of Jesus.
By studying the historical and cultural background of the Biblical text,
participants will then be challenged to apply it to their daily life.
Led by Marie Gooding. Meets in Room 112 of the new Family Life Center.
The Book of Luke, Old Testament Study
(Ladies Bible Class)
This Ladies class studies Biblical text and learns how to apply it to
their everyday life. Come learn and fellowship with a great group of
women! Led by Glenda Frost. Meets in the Bridal Room off the Sanctuary.
“Jesus’ Parables About Priorities”
by James W. Moore
This class is for our “Prime Time” adults. Jesus’ parables flip our
values and turn our world upside down. These parables about priorities
are always relevant and always personal. They can change our lives as
they proclaim God’s truth. Led by Jim Sampson. Meets in Room 114 of the
Family Life Center.
