Serve Where You Are Called

Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said,'Here am I. Send me!'
- Isaiah 6:8

The question is not, 'Is God calling?' but
'Where is God calling me to serve?'

SIMPSONWOOD NEEDS YOU!

There are many opportunities and possibilities if you will only allow the Holy Spirit to guide you...these are just a few:

  • Be a greeter for new visitors

  • Volunteer for a Mission Trip

  • Join our Prayer Warriors

  • Teach and Adult or Children's Sunday School Class

  • Participate in our Disciple Classes

  • Be a part of the Youth Minisitry

  • Take part in organizing our weekly services

  • Be an usher of friendly face passing out bulletins

  • Sing in the Choir

  • Help with special church events

  • Be a Member Mentor

  • Serve on a Committee

Volunteer with one of the many ministries supported by your church and feed the hungry, visit the sick, cook a dinner, teach our children and so much more.

Outreach to Our Congregation and Community
We have always had a strong ministry of outreach care to our neighbors, to our Conference connection, and to our world mission. In the coming year we will sustain and enlarge our ministry of outreach with pastoral care and lay visitation to the troubled, sick and homebound among us. We will strengthen our engagement with the neighborhood families through our many Adult Sunday School Classes, Adult Bible Studies and special retreats.

This year we will sponsor our 11th  annual Walk Through Bethlehem, a stroll-through atmosphere of Bethlehem as it might have been the night Jesus was born. With the participation of nearly 300 members of our congregation all helping with planning, erecting, performing and supporting, some 4,000 visitors are expected this year to experience this touching event.

Apportionments and Global Ministry
In reaching out to the world, a large portion of our funding is for the Church's share of the United Methodist apportionments (approximately $96,486) which support U.S. and overseas missionaries, disaster relief and health and welfare ministries.

Christian Nurture Ministry
We continue to expand our nurture for adults, youth and children of our congregation and neighborhood families shaping the oncoming generation with our foundational beliefs and core values of Christ-centered spirituality, nurture, loyalty, outreach, compassion, respect, fun, communication, generosity and commitment. This is done in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Bible Bunch, Sprouts, Children's Choir, Special Events, Family Devotions, Advent and Christmas Programs and much, much more.

Our wonderful leadership team of Laurie Willing, Director of Christian Education & Youth Ministry and Matt Parker, Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry, have developed an exceptional Youth Program.

On Sundays we offer MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship) and a new Youth Praise Band and Youth Vocal Praise Team, led by Matt Parker and Laurie Willing. Wednesday evening is the time of our mid-week youth program. Beginning after school, our youth have the opportunity to participate in the Holy Rock Cafe, Wednesday Night Church Dinner Mid-Hi Bible Study, and our Senior-Hi Bible Study. We will strengthen and expand these programs with special vents, service projects and retreats.

Missions at Simpsonwood
Simpsonwood continues to share the love of God in our hearts with member support and participation in our Honduras Mission, Tampa Youth Mission and Romanian Orphanage Mission.

In reaching out to the community to meet the needs of children, youth and families for food, shelter, clothing and spiritual nurture, the congregation along with the United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men groups continue their support of the Norcross Food Cooperative, Habitat for Humanity, Murphy-Harpst Children Home, My House, Atlanta Women's Shelter and Trinity Soup Kitchen.

Worship at Simpsonwood
Worship is the central dynamic of our life together; lifting praise to God, joining hands with one another in fellowship, being affirmed and empowered to walk with Jesus in our daily living. Working with our strong support staff, the Worship Committee, along with Dr. McCullough and Rev. Lawder, continues to focus on enhancing our worship experience. Our 8:45 Praise Band and our Chancel Choir will all work together to make our times of worship inspirational and empowering.
