| Statement of
Purpose
As a church, our mission
statement is 'To know Christ and to make Him known.' That
takes on a special meaning for those of us in Children's
Ministry. We want to teach because of the difference Christ
has made in our lives. We've been transformed by our
relationship with God, and we want to share that with our
children. We want to help them become rooted in their
identity as children of God, and to experience the freedom
that comes with accepting Christ. In this way, we can
prepare them for whatever the future may bring. Providing a
safe, loving and nurturing environment for your child is the
utmost purpose of our preschool at Simpsonwood.
Simpsonwood UMC Preschool
does not discriminate in its enrollment based on race,
color, sex, creed, ethnic or religious background. Children
with mild physical handicaps and/or developmental delays are
enrolled at the discretion of the Director and the staff.
The first years of a child's
life are the most important. Never again will he learn as
many things as rapidly as in his first six years of life.
The environment and the adults who surround the child during
these years become the teachers of the child. Children learn
by modeling, observing, and doing. The curriculum for the
early years must be based on the understanding, by both the
parents and teachers, of how children grow and develop and
how they learn. Learning develops as sequentially as growth
and the pace is an individual one. Parents and teachers who
know and recognize these developmental patterns can
effectively meet the needs of children.
